The film is a reboot of the 1976 film Chitchor and features Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan in lead roles. It had a nationwide release on 27 June 2003 to negative reviews, and was commercially unsuccessful at the box office.
However, Bachchan's performance was well received and earned him a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor at the 49th Filmfare Awards.
